Maharashtra government has decided to give ₹ 5000 a month to every sex worker, considering the order of the Supreme Court. This money will be given from October to December. For this the government has decided to spend ₹ 510000000.
Maharashtra has become the first state in the country that has now announced to provide assistance to sex workers due to the conditions arising due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Usually we see that we talk about all the sectors which have been affected due to the corona virus epidemic. But the work of sex workers has also been affected by the coronavirus epidemic. And now they have nothing to do. In such a situation, it was necessary to help sex workers. In view of this, the Maharashtra government has taken this decision. Maharashtra government will give ₹ 5000 to each sex worker from October to December. In addition, children of gene sex workers go to school. They will be given ₹ 2500 separately every month.
Maharashtra’s child development welfare minister Yashomati Thakur has said that we all want to help sex workers. And dry ration will also be transported for them. The minister said that a committee will be formed in every district through the collector to deliver drought rations. We have directed that all sex workers should be assisted without any discrimination and condolences.
The Maharashtra government’s scheme will benefit about 70000 female sex workers living in Maharashtra, who live in 32 districts of Maharashtra. Apart from this, the figures of sex workers who are left are also being collected by the government. According to the news of Times of India, these sex workers have been identified by the National AIDS Control Society. Gene sex workers have been identified by the National Aids Control Society. They will not be required to show any type of identity card to get government assistance.
